Privacy Policy

The Remote Innovator (“the site”, “I”, “me”) respects your privacy. This page explains what information the site collects, why, and what happens to it — in plain language, without the legalese fog.

By using theremoteinnovator.com, you agree to this policy. If you have questions or want something removed, the contact page reaches a human (me — no VA, no bot).

What I collect, and why

Newsletter (ConvertKit). If you subscribe to the email newsletter, I collect your email address — and only your email address — so I can send it. Subscribers also self-report their first name in some forms, which is optional. Emails are sent through ConvertKit (Kit), which stores subscriber information on my behalf. You can unsubscribe with one click in any email, and unsubscribe means exactly that: your address is removed from the list.

Contact form. If you send a message through the contact form, I receive the name, email address, and message you submit. It is used to reply to you, and for nothing else. Form submissions are processed by the site’s form handler and delivered to me as email.

Usage analytics. The site uses privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages are read and which are not: Jetpack Stats (provided by Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com) and Google Analytics 4 (configured via MonsterInsights and Site Kit). These services set cookies and collect standard usage data — pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, referring site. IP addresses are anonymized where the service supports it. I don’t use analytics data to build advertising profiles or follow you around the internet.

Cookie preferences. The Cookie Policy lists the cookies in use. Your consent choices are stored in a small cookie (wpconsent_preferences) so the banner doesn’t nag you on every visit.

Affiliate links. Some posts contain affiliate links, marked as such in the Affiliate Disclosure. If you click through and buy something (for example, from Amazon), the retailer — not me — may set tracking cookies to credit the referral, and I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. What you do on the retailer’s site after clicking is governed by that retailer’s own privacy policy.

Server logs. Like virtually every website, the hosting platform (WordPress.com, operated by Automattic) keeps standard server logs — IP address, requested URL, timestamp — for security and operational purposes.

Comments. The site does not accept comments, so no comment data is collected.

What I don’t do

I don’t sell, rent, or trade your personal information. I don’t run third-party advertising on the site. I don’t buy email lists, and I don’t add you to the newsletter because you sent a contact-form message — subscribing is a separate, explicit choice.

Who sees your data

Service providers process data on my behalf, each under its own privacy terms: Automattic / WordPress.com (hosting, server logs, Jetpack stats — automattic.com/privacy), Kit (ConvertKit) (newsletter delivery — kit.com/privacy), Google (Analytics — policies.google.com/privacy), and Amazon (affiliate tracking when you click affiliate links — amazon.com/privacy). Nobody else. There are no employees, no agencies, and no VA with access.

Your rights

If you’re in the EU/EEA, UK, or another jurisdiction with data-protection law, you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data held about you, and to object to or restrict processing. If you’re on the newsletter list, the simplest route is the unsubscribe link; for anything else — a copy of your data, deletion of a contact-form record, questions about cookies — use the contact page and I’ll handle it personally and promptly.

Data retention

Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Contact-form messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with them. Analytics data is retained according to the providers’ default retention settings. There is no long-term database of your personal information on this site.
